A group of representatives of one country based in another is known as a 'diplomatic mission'. These institutions are usually called embassies (if they are in the capital city of the host country) or consulates (if they are located elsewhere in the host country), however they can go by other names. The United States maintains the most diplomatic missions of any nation (270), followed by France (267) and China (258). The US has no diplomatic representation in Bhutan, Comoros, North Korea, Maldives, Somalia, Seychelles, nor in some of the Pacific Island Nations and European Microstates. The country with the fewest diplomatic missions is possibly Nauru (4), followed by Liechtenstein (5), and Bhutan (6).
